Sunday Afternoon Session
“Here Am I, Send Me”
President Susan H. Porter
Primary General President
Children all over the world are offering what they have to bring God’s love to their families, church, friends, and communities.
Overview
President Susan H. Porter speaks directly to children (and anyone willing to listen) about who they really are: spirit children of Heavenly Father with gifts, purpose, and power to do good. She teaches that Jesus Christ volunteered, “Here am I, send me”, to make it possible for us to return to God through His Atonement and Resurrection. Her simple pattern is to pray each day, “Here am I, send me,” listen for promptings, and offer what you have, small acts that Heavenly Father can multiply to bless others now and later.
Three Key Takeaways
- 1Your spirit is older than your body; you came to earth with gifts and a purpose, and you can make a real difference for good right now.
- 2Jesus Christ chose to come, suffer in Gethsemane, die, and be resurrected; because of Him, you can stay close to Him, grow, feel comfort, and become who you are meant to be.
- 3When you pray “Here am I, send me” and offer what you have (like the boy with loaves and fishes), God can take something small and simple and make it bless many people.
Reflection Questions
- What is one gift or strength I already have that I sometimes overlook, and how could it help someone this week?
- When I think about Jesus Christ walking with me today, what changes in the way I approach a hard situation at home, school, or church?
- If I prayed “Here am I, send me” each morning, who is one person I might be sent to comfort, include, or help, and what would that look like in a simple, specific action?
Application Prompt
Each morning this week, pray “Heavenly Father, here am I, send me,” then write down one prompting you receive and do it that day (even if it feels small).
