Sunday Morning Session
I Feel My Savior’s Love
Elder Pedro X. Larreal
Of the Seventy
It is my prayer that each of us will feel our Savior’s love as we partake of the sacrament.
Overview
Elder Pedro X. Larreal teaches that in a time when deception is increasing, we need the constant influence of the Holy Ghost, and that weekly, personal preparation for the sacrament is a key way the Lord renews that gift. He points to the Savior’s words in 3 Nephi and Luke to show that the sacrament is specifically “for you,” meant to help you remember Christ’s Atonement, feel His love, and qualify to “always have his Spirit” as you face trials and make choices.
Three Key Takeaways
- 1President Nelson’s warning matters: in the coming days we cannot survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost, especially because the adversary is effective at disguising truth.
- 2The sacrament is the Lord’s appointed weekly ordinance to renew the promise of His Spirit; partaking with a broken heart and contrite spirit invites the companionship and guidance of the Holy Ghost.
- 3Sacrament meeting deserves deliberate reverence: during the sacrament we should remove worldly thoughts and distractions (including phones and secular reading) so we can focus on the Savior’s atoning sacrifice and feel His love that we are “never alone.”
Reflection Questions
- What usually pulls my mind away during the sacrament, and what specific change would help me give my “full attention” to the Savior?
- As I read Luke 22:19–20 and the Savior’s repeated “for you,” what does it change about how personal I let the sacrament feel each week?
- What would “broken heart and contrite spirit” look like for me this Sunday, what do I need to repent of, surrender, or ask the Lord to soften?
Application Prompt
Before next Sunday, make a simple sacrament plan (one repentance step, one scripture to ponder, Luke 22:19–20 or 3 Nephi 18, and one distraction to eliminate) and follow it during the sacrament.
