Gather the children in a circle with big smiles. Hold up a shiny apple (or red ball) and a yummy fruit picture. Say, "Look at this pretty fruit from the Garden of Eden! Adam and Eve lived there with Heavenly Father. What do you think happened next?" Let them guess and wiggle with excitement. This leads right into our story!
Simple Scripture Story
Use simple pictures from Old Testament Stories (pages 13-16): Adam and Eve in the garden, the tree, the angel. Act it out together—pretend to eat fruit, feel sad, then happy! Tell in easy words: "Adam and Eve ate the special fruit. They had to leave the pretty garden. But an angel came and taught them about Jesus and God's plan (Moses 5:4-15). They learned to pray and offer sacrifices. They were glad!" Ask, "How did Adam and Eve feel at the end? Glad!" Connect to the apple: "Just like our fruit, their choice started God's happy plan."
Big Idea
Heavenly Father and Jesus help us choose the right and be happy! Just like Adam and Eve learned, we can pray and choose good things.
Wiggle and Learn Activities
Color Choice Fun (Object Lesson)
- Give each child paper and one crayon color. Let them color a simple garden picture.
- Then give 3-4 colors and say, "Now choose your favorite!"
Materials: Paper, crayons.
Say: "God gave Adam and Eve choices so they could grow happy, like colors make pictures pretty (Moses 4:1-4)."
This connects to our story—choices are part of God's plan!
Good Choice Relay (Game)
- Scatter picture cards of good choices (pray, help friend, obey) and bad (push, lie).
- Children run relay-style, pick a good choice card, and bring it back shouting "Choose the right!"
Materials: Printed cards, tape.
Say: "Adam and Eve chose, and Jesus helps us choose right to be happy!"
This builds on colors—now run and pick choices like they did!
Prayer Hands Craft (Hands-On Craft)
- Trace children's hands on paper to make praying hands.
- Add sticker eyes or draw a smile; write "I pray to Heavenly Father."
Materials: Paper, crayons, stickers.
Say: "Adam and Eve prayed after leaving the garden and felt Heavenly Father's love (Moses 5:4,8)."
This follows the relay—use your good choice hands to pray!
Choose Right Dance (Music & Movement)
- Sing "Choose the Right Way" (Children's Songbook, 160-61) marching and pointing up for Jesus.
- Freeze when song stops and thumbs up for good choices.
Materials: None.
Say: "Just like Adam and Eve, we choose right with Jesus and dance happy!"
This wiggles after crafting—move your prayer hands!
Picture Time
Show "The Fall, by Robert T. Barrett" from Gospel Art Book. Ask: "What do you see Adam and Eve doing? How does Jesus help them be happy? What choice can we make today?" This reminds us Heavenly Father has a plan for joy.
Song and Actions
Sing "Choose the Right Way" again. Actions: Point to head ("way"), march ("wending"), thumbs up ("straight"), hug self ("blest"). It matches our big idea—choosing right with Jesus!
Jesus Loves Me Moment
Sit in a cozy circle. Remind: "Remember Adam and Eve's story? Heavenly Father and Jesus help us choose right and pray to be happy!" Invite: "I know Jesus loves me because... (He helps me choose good things!)" Give hugs.
Take-Home Hug
This week, pray with your family like Adam and Eve—say thank you for Jesus!
Teacher Survival Tips
- Time each activity to 3-5 minutes; use a fun timer song.
- If wiggles start, jump to movement next.
- Prep pictures/cards ahead; let helpers pass materials fast.
