Come Follow Me 2026 · Week 45
Family Activities
November 2–8 · Ezekiel 1–3; 33–34; 36–37; 47
This week's one thing
The Lord can give us a new heart and put His Spirit within us (Ezekiel 36:26–27).
Opener: Twenty Questions: What Did God Promise?
Before the lesson, write 'a new heart' on the slip of paper and fold it around the stone. Tell the family: 'Inside this paper is something God promised to give His people in Ezekiel. You can only ask yes-or-no questions.' Give hints if they get stuck, like 'It is something inside you' or 'The stone is a clue about the old one.' When someone guesses it, unwrap the stone and read Ezekiel 36:26 aloud.
The Lord promised to take away the 'stony heart' and give His people 'an heart of flesh,' and He makes the same offer to us.
Scripture Story
Ezekiel stands in a wide valley, and the ground is covered with dry bones. They are old and white, and there are thousands of them. The Lord asks him, "Can these bones live?" Ezekiel says, "O Lord God, you know." The Lord tells him, "Speak to the bones. Tell them to hear the word of the Lord." So Ezekiel speaks. Then he hears a rattling noise! The bones roll toward each other and click together, foot bone to leg bone, hand bone to arm bone. Muscles grow over them, and then skin covers them. But the bodies lie still, because they have no breath. The Lord says, "Call the wind!" Ezekiel calls, and breath comes into them. They stand up on their feet, a huge crowd of living people. The Lord says, "I will put my spirit in you, and you shall live" (Ezekiel 37:1–14). What do you think Ezekiel was feeling when the first bones started to move?
Discussion Questions
Little Kids (ages 4–7)
- What sound do you think the bones made when they came together? Can you make that sound?
- When you feel grumpy inside, what helps your heart feel soft and happy again?
Big Kids (ages 8–11)
- God gave the bodies breath last, after the bones, muscles, and skin. Why do you think the breath (the Spirit) was the part that made them truly alive?
- Ezekiel 3:17 calls a prophet a watchman who warns people. What is something a living prophet has warned us about, and what danger do you think he sees?
Teens
- The Israelites in exile said, "Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost" (Ezekiel 37:11). Have you ever felt that way about something in your life, and what would it take for God to bring hope back to it?
This Week's Challenge
Put a cup with a little soil and a few dried beans on the kitchen windowsill. Each time someone in the family notices their heart softening this week (forgiving a sibling, letting go of a grudge, feeling the Spirit), they add a spoonful of water and say what happened. On Sunday, check whether anything has sprouted and talk about what changed in your family.
Song Suggestions
Two Sticks, One Hand
Ages 3-10~10 min- 1
Step 1: Read Ezekiel 37:16–17 together.
- 2
Step 2: Write 'For Judah (Bible)' on one stick and 'For Joseph (Book of Mormon)' on the other. Older kids can help little ones.
- 3
Step 3: Hold the sticks side by side and wrap them with the rubber band or tape so they become one.
- 4
Step 4: Take turns holding the bundle while each person shares a favorite story about Jesus from either book.
The Lord said the two sticks would become 'one in thine hand' (Ezekiel 37:17), and today the Bible and the Book of Mormon work together to gather us to Jesus Christ.
