This week's one thing
Jesus Christ can help me trust God’s prophet, even when the answer seems small or strange.
Opener: The Flashlight in the Closet
Turn off the room lights or step into a dark closet or hallway. Hand someone a flashlight and say, "This little light does not change the whole house, but it shows the next step." Let each person take a turn shining it at their feet, then ask, "Have you ever had guidance from God that felt more like one small step than one giant answer?"
God often guides us the way a flashlight works, one clear step at a time through His prophet.
Scripture Story
Naaman is an important army captain, but he has leprosy. A young servant girl tells Naaman’s wife, "There is a prophet in Israel. He could help him." So Naaman goes with horses, chariots, gifts, and a letter from the king. He stops at Elisha’s house, probably expecting a big moment. Elisha does not even come outside. He sends a message: "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times." Naaman is angry. He says, "I thought he would come out and do something great!" He turns to leave. Then his servants speak up. "If the prophet had asked you to do some great thing, would you have done it? Why not do this small thing?" Naaman goes to the river. He dips once, twice, all the way to seven. When he comes up, his skin is clean like a child’s. The small thing was the miracle road. What do you think Naaman was feeling when he went under the water the seventh time?

- Why do you think simple commandments can feel harder than big dramatic ones?
- Have you ever had a time when doing one small thing helped a lot later?

- What makes it hard to trust prophetic counsel when it does not match what you expected God to do in your life?
This Week's Challenge
Pick one small prophetic invitation to practice this week, such as daily prayer, scripture reading, or helping someone quietly. Put a paper slip in a jar each time anyone does it, then count the slips together on Sunday.
Song Suggestions
Seven Dips River Strip
Ages 3-10~10 min- 1
Step 1: Draw a long blue river on a strip of paper and write numbers 1 through 7 along the water.

Step 2: Cut out a small paper person for Naaman and tape a folded tab on the back so he can stand up.

Step 3: Move Naaman to each number as you retell the story, then place him at the end and say what happened after the seventh dip.
Naaman was blessed when he obeyed the prophet in a small, humble way.
