Come Follow Me 2026 · Week 26
Family Activities
June 22–28 - 2 Samuel 11–12; 1 Kings 3; 6–9; 11
This week's one thing
When we stay close to the Lord, He helps us choose wisely and keep our hearts faithful.
Opener: The Group Chat Choice
Hold up one rubber band and ask, "What would you do if friends were sharing something mean or inappropriate in a group chat and told you not to leave?" Let everyone answer. Then link the two rubber bands together and say, "What helps a person stay connected to the Lord in a moment like that?" Write answers on the paper, such as pray, leave, text a parent, or choose a better friend.
David drifted from the Lord before he made a terrible choice, and Solomon drifted later in life, but staying connected to the Lord gives us strength to choose well.
Scripture Story
King Solomon kneels at the new temple in Jerusalem. The people are gathered all around, and the priests have brought in the ark of the covenant. Solomon lifts his hands toward heaven and prays. He knows the temple is beautiful, but he also knows that God is greater than any building. He says that when the people pray toward this holy house, he asks God to hear them in heaven and forgive them. He prays for people who have sinned, for people who are hurting, and for strangers who come because they have heard of the Lord. Solomon wants the people to remember God and walk in His ways. Later, the Lord appears to Solomon and says He has heard his prayer. He promises blessings if Solomon and the people will keep His commandments. What do you think Solomon was feeling when the Lord said He had heard his prayer?
Discussion Questions
Little Kids (ages 4–7)
- What is a good choice you can make when you feel tempted to do something wrong?
- Why do you think families like to go to the temple?
Big Kids (ages 8–11)
- Why do you think one bad choice often gets followed by more bad choices if we do not stop and repent?
- What helps you feel close to Heavenly Father before you have to make a hard decision?
Teens
- How can someone look strong on the outside, like David or Solomon, and still be drifting on the inside?
This Week's Challenge
Put a rubber band on your wrist or on the fridge this week. Each time someone faces a temptation, hard choice, or stressful moment, they pause for a 10-second prayer before acting. At dinner on Sunday, share one moment when that pause helped.
Song Suggestions
Rubber Band Temple

Step 1: Stack plastic cups to make a simple temple shape with towers or walls.
- 2
Step 2: Stretch rubber bands around the cups to help hold the structure together.
- 3
Step 3: Draw a small person praying on paper and place it beside the temple.
The rubber bands hold the cups together, and our prayers and covenants help keep us close to the Lord.
