Happy Opening
Gather the Sunbeams in a circle with a shiny hand mirror. Hold it up and smile big. "Look at this! Who do you see?" Let them peek and giggle. "Heavenly Father sees you too. He told Moses, 'Thou art my son' (Moses 1:4). You are His child! Let's say together while wiggling our fingers like stars: 'I am a child of God!'"

Simple Scripture Story
Use a picture of Moses and a pretend robe (scarf). Act it out together. "Moses was on a mountain. Heavenly Father and Jesus came! God hugged Moses and said, 'You are my son. I have a work for you to do' (Moses 1:6). God showed Moses the whole earth and stars. Then Satan came and said mean lies, like 'Moses, thou art nothing' (Moses 1:12). But Moses said no! 'I am a child of God!' He prayed, and God sent help (Moses 1:20). What do you think Moses felt? Just like our mirror, God sees you as His child!"

Big Idea
I am a child of God! Just like Moses, Heavenly Father says this to you. We can say it back and feel happy.

Wiggle and Learn Activities

Mirror Magic Game (Interactive Discussion & Game)

  1. Pass the mirror around the circle fast.
  2. Each child looks, then says "I am a child of God!" and tosses a soft ball to a friend.
  3. Materials: Hand mirror, soft ball.
What to say: "God told Moses this (Moses 1:4). Now you tell a friend!"
Connects to story: Like God hugging Moses, we pass God's happy words!

Resist the Lies Relay (Physical Activities)

  1. Line up for a relay. Shout truths like "God says: You are my child!" (thumbs up, run). Lies like "Satan says: You are nothing" (thumbs down, freeze).
  2. Switch sides of room for truths/lies.
  3. Materials: None.
What to say: "Moses said no to Satan's lie (Moses 1:13). Run to truth!"
Connects to mirror: Now move like Moses choosing God's words over lies!

Star Child Crafts (Hands-On Crafts)

  1. Draw your face on paper with stars around (you shining as God's child).
  2. Add sticker hearts saying "I am a child of God!"
  3. Materials: Paper, crayons, star stickers, heart stickers.
What to say: "Abraham saw us as spirits with stars before earth (Abraham 3:22). You are God's star child!"
Connects to relay: Pick your truth paper and hold it high like a winner!

Spirit Dance Song (Music & Movement)

  1. March like spirits before earth, clapping "I lived with God!"
  2. Freeze and point up: "Now on earth to do His work!" (Moses 1:39).
  3. Materials: None.
What to say: "Just like Abraham's vision, dance your big idea!"
Connects to craft: Wave your star picture while dancing!

Picture Time
Show "Moses Sees Jehovah" from Gospel Art Book (no. 13). "What do you see God doing? How does Moses look? Point to him and say, 'I am a child of God too!' Feel God's love like Moses did."

Song and Actions
Sing "I Am a Child of God" (Children's Songbook, 2-3). Actions: Point to self ("I am a child"), hug self ("of God"), wiggle fingers ("I'll follow"), jump high ("His plan"). Repeat chorus twice!

Jesus Loves Me Moment
Sit in a cozy circle. "Remember Moses and our big idea? I know Jesus loves me because He helps me know I am a child of God. Share: 'I know Jesus loves me because...'" Hug and whisper to each one, "You are Heavenly Father's child!"

Take-Home Hug
Draw a star on your hand. Show family and say, "I am a child of God!" Hug them tight.

Teacher Survival Tips

  1. Use a 2-minute timer per activity—wiggle to next with a cheer!
  2. If extra wiggles, add surprise hugs or quick marches.
  3. Prep pictures/stickers ahead; let helpers pass materials fast.
