Happy Opening
Gather the children in a circle with big smiles. Hold up a soft piece of bread or cracker. "Yum! Who loves bread? Heavenly Father loves us so much—He gave special bread from heaven in the Old Testament! Let's pretend to munch like happy friends." Munch together and giggle. This yummy bread helps us think about Jesus!

Simple Scripture Story
Use a basket of pretend manna (gold-wrapped crackers or paper bread shapes). "Long ago, God's people were hungry in the desert. God said, 'I will rain bread from heaven' (Exodus 16:4, 11–15). Every morning, white bread called manna appeared—like magic flakes! They gathered it and ate. What do you think it tasted like? Cake? Honey? Jesus said He is just like that bread: 'I am the bread of life' (John 6:35). God was showing us Jesus!" Let kids touch the props and copy gathering motions.

Big Idea
The Old Testament shows us Jesus! Just like manna from heaven, Jesus feeds our hearts and loves us.

Wiggle and Learn Activities

1. Manna Object Surprise (Object Lesson)
Materials: Small crackers or bread bits in a basket, one per child.
Steps: 1. Pass the basket—each child takes one. 2. Pretend rain falls (wiggle fingers high), then gather manna (scoop arms). 3. Munch and say "Thank you, Jesus!"
What to say: "This manna reminds us Jesus is our bread of life (John 6:35). He fills us with love!"
Connects to story: We felt the manna now—let's move to hunt for more Jesus surprises!

2. Jesus Lamb Hunt Game (Physical Activity/Game)
Materials: Hide 5-6 printed lamb pictures (or draw quick ones) around room.
Steps: 1. "I spy a lamb that shows Jesus!" (Exodus 12:3–5; John 1:29). 2. Children run to find and bring back. 3. Hold up and cheer: "Lamb like Jesus, who saves us!"
What to say: "The Old Testament shows us Jesus as the lamb! He loves and helps us."
Connects to manna: Like finding bread surprises, now hunt lambs—Jesus is everywhere!

3. Isaiah Baby Draw Craft (Hands-On Craft)
Materials: Paper hearts, crayons, baby Jesus stickers.
Steps: 1. Draw or stick baby Jesus on heart. 2. Add sparkles for heaven light. 3. Wave hearts: "Isaiah saw baby Jesus coming!" (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6).
What to say: "Prophets in the Old Testament saw Jesus before He was born. He is our friend!"
Connects to hunt: We found lambs—now make hearts with baby Jesus to hold His love!

4. Jehovah Name Dance (Music & Movement)
Materials: None.
Steps: 1. March in circle calling names: "Jesus! Jehovah!" (Exodus 6:3). 2. Freeze when music stops (hum tune), point up: "Jesus is Jehovah!" 3. Dance again.
What to say: "In Old Testament, Jesus was called Jehovah—same loving Savior!"
Connects to craft: Hold your Jesus hearts while we dance His names!

Picture Time
Show "The Prophet Isaiah Foretells Christ’s Birth" from Gospel Art Book (Harry Anderson). "Look! What do you see? A baby? Stars? Isaiah wrote about Jesus coming (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). How does this picture make you feel happy? The Old Testament shows us Jesus!"

Song and Actions
Sing "Seek the Lord Early" (Children’s Songbook, 108). Actions: Seek (hands to eyes like spy), Lord (point up), Early (jump quick), Found (hug self). "Seek Jesus in Old Testament stories—He is there!"

Jesus Loves Me Moment
Sit knee-to-knee. "Remember manna, lamb, Isaiah? The Old Testament shows Jesus loves us! I know Jesus lives and feeds our hearts. Share: 'I know Jesus loves me because...'" Hug and listen.

Take-Home Hug
Give a heart sticker: "This week, hug Mom and say, 'I see Jesus in stories!' Read a Jesus story together."

Teacher Survival Tips

  1. Set a timer for 3 minutes per activity—move fast if wiggles start!
  2. Use a "magic word" like "Jesus!" to refocus—everyone echoes and freezes.
  3. Prep props night before; adapt by skipping one if short time—always end with song hug.
