This class in one line

Every member teaches the gospel somewhere, and Brother Reid teaches that we are good enough because we can love the Savior, and that love helps us love the people we teach.

Skip the Sydney mission section and the news headline joke, and give the 25-minute lesson part only a sentence, so the class has time to discuss the Savior's pattern of love.

Sunday: Are you good enough to teach?

This Sunday we are discussing Brother Gabriel W. Reid's October 2026 talk "You Are Good Enough to Teach." He reminds us that we all teach the gospel, in our homes, in callings, and one person at a time. He also shares how the Savior promised help to fishermen and to the sons of Mosiah when He called them to teach. Ponder this: think of a teacher who helped you feel the Savior's love. What did that person do?

Pick one opening

Opening question

Brother Reid admitted that after his call he silently asked, "Lord, I love You, but do You really have the right person?" Most of us teach someone: children, a ministering family, a friend, a class. Without naming names, when have you felt that you didn't know enough to teach the gospel? What made you feel that way?

Teach this first

Loving the Savior helps us love and teach others

Brother Reid teaches that we are good enough to teach the gospel because we can love the Master Teacher, not because we know everything or have every skill. The two great commandments become one invitation for a teacher: love the Lord and love those you teach. As our love for the Savior grows, He helps us see and love others the way He does, and that love makes our teaching more like His.

Brother Reid taught that we are good enough to teach "not because you know everything," but "because you can love the Master Teacher."
— Brother Gabriel W. Reid

Ask the class

  • 1.The Savior told fishermen with little experience, "I will make you to become fishers of men." What does that promise teach you about how the Lord prepares the people He calls?
  • 2.Brother Reid said that because his parents loved the Lord, they loved their children in a way that helped the children love Him too. How have you seen someone's love for the Savior change the way they treated you?

If time remains

The Savior taught people one by one

When the resurrected Savior visited the people in the Americas, He first invited them to come to Him one by one, and only then taught His doctrine. After the teaching ended, He still healed their sick, blessed their children, and prayed for them, which shows that every lesson He gave came from His love for the people He taught.

Ask the class

  • 1.Brother Reid asked, "How can I help those I teach connect to the Savior sooner?" What helps you feel closer to the Savior in a class, apart from the lesson content?

Counsel together

Quorum / Relief Society business

  • •The new Sunday schedule gives us a chance to know and love each other every week. Who in our ward might not feel known by name, and how could we reach them?
  • •How can we help members who are new, or who have recently come back, feel ready to teach and ready to answer when the Lord calls them?

Last 3–5 minutes

Close

This week, pray by name for one person you teach or minister to, at home or at church, and ask the Lord to help you see that person the way He does.

Brother Reid promised that as you deepen your love for the Savior, He will teach you, walk beside you, and gradually make you into the teacher He knows you can become.

Your witness: Think of a teacher whose love helped you feel the Savior's love, or a time the Lord helped you teach when you felt unprepared. Share it briefly and say what it taught you about Jesus Christ.
