Come Follow Me 2026 · Week 19

Family Activities

May 4–10 - Numbers 11–14; 20–24; 27

This week's one thing

The Lord can lead me safely forward when I choose faith instead of fear.

Opener: Hardest to Trust: Quick Family Ranking

paperpen or pencil

On a paper, write four words in a column: Hunger, Waiting, Change, Fear. Everyone votes by pointing to the one that feels hardest this week, then you rank them as a family from hardest to easiest. Ask one person, "What would help you move that one down the list?"

Israel gets close to the promised land, and fear jumps to the top of the list, so the Lord teaches them how to move forward with faith.

Scripture Story

Twelve men come back from Canaan with dust on their sandals and grapes so big they have to carry them on a pole. The people crowd around. The spies say, "The land is good." Then ten of them add, "But the cities have walls, and the people are giants." The camp starts buzzing. Someone says, "We cannot do it." Another says, "Let’s go back to Egypt." Caleb pushes through and says, "Let us go up at once." Joshua stands with him. They say, "The Lord is with us, fear them not" (Numbers 14:9). But the people cry all night anyway. Moses pleads with the Lord for them. The next day, some people charge forward without the Lord’s help, and they get chased back. What do you think Caleb was feeling when everyone around him started panicking?

Discussion Questions

Little Kids (ages 4–7)

  • If you were one of the spies, what food would you bring back to show the land is good?
  • What helps you feel brave when it is dark or when you are alone in your room?

Big Kids (ages 8–11)

  • Why do you think ten spies talked about the giants more than the good land?
  • When you feel nervous about something, what is one small thing you can do to act like Joshua and Caleb anyway?

Teens

  • When does fear sound like it is being "realistic" in your life, and how do you tell the difference between wisdom and panic?

This Week's Challenge

Make a "Faith Jar" on the counter. Each time someone in the family chooses faith over fear this week (prays before a test, apologizes first, tries again after failing), they add a small piece of paper that says what they did in five words or less. Read them together next Sunday.

Fear-to-Faith Soap Wash

Ages 3-10~10 min
small bowl or sinkwaterdish soap or hand soapwashclothpapermarker
  1. 1

Step 1: On a paper, draw a big circle and write (or help them write) one worry inside it, like "school" or "being left out."

  2. 2

Step 2: Put the paper on the counter and wipe over it with a damp soapy washcloth, without soaking it, while you say, "We can wash away panic and choose faith."

  3. 3

Step 3: Rinse the cloth in clean water and wipe once more, then have the child say one brave sentence they can use this week, like "I can try again" or "I can pray first."

The washcloth helps kids picture how the Lord can help our hearts feel clean and steady when fear shows up, like Joshua and Caleb asking the people to trust God (Numbers 14:9).
