Come Follow Me 2026 · Week 17
Family Activities
April 20–26 - Exodus 19–20; 24; 31–34
This week's one thing
God gives commandments to help us stay close to Him and live with peace.
Opener: Yes or No: Mountain Rules
Tell the family you are thinking of something God gave Israel at Mount Sinai, and they can only ask yes-or-no questions to guess it. If they get stuck, use your own yes-or-no hints like, "Is it a set of rules?" "Does it help families?" "Is it in Exodus 20?" When they guess "the Ten Commandments," write "10" on the paper and let someone draw a quick mountain next to it.
At Sinai, God gives commandments so His people can stay close to Him and know how to live.
Scripture Story
The people camp at the bottom of Mount Sinai. The mountain stands tall, dark rock against the sky. Moses goes up, and the Lord tells him, "Tell the people to get ready." When the third day comes, thunder rolls and lightning flashes. A thick cloud covers the mountain, and a trumpet sound fills the air. The people step back. Moses walks forward. The Lord speaks commandments, words meant to guide a whole nation: worship God, keep the Sabbath, honor parents, tell the truth, do not steal. Later Moses reads the Lord’s words to the people, and they answer, "All that the Lord hath spoken we will do" (Exodus 24:7). Moses goes up again, but down below, the people get impatient and build a golden calf. When Moses returns, he pleads for them, and the Lord offers mercy and a way back. What do you think Moses was feeling when he heard the people promise, "We will do"?
Discussion Questions
Little Kids (ages 4–7)
- Which commandment sounds like it would help our home feel happy?
- What is one way you can honor Mom or Dad today?
Big Kids (ages 8–11)
- Why do you think the people felt scared near the mountain, even though God was helping them? (Exodus 19:16–18)
- Which of the Ten Commandments do you think is hardest for kids at school, and why? (Exodus 20:3–17)
Teens
- Israel promised, "All that the Lord hath spoken we will do" (Exodus 24:7). What helps a promise turn into real life when your friends, your phone, or your stress level pulls the other way?
This Week's Challenge
Pick one commandment from Exodus 20:3–17 to practice on purpose for seven days. Put its number on the fridge, then each night at dinner everyone shares one small moment they tried, even if it was messy.

Covenant Seed Cup
Ages 3-10~10 min- 1
